Julian Mitchell
Program Director - Charleston County
Charleston is Julian’s home and public service is his legacy, so when he joined the RCI Team in 2022 as an Advocate Mentor, it was a natural fit. Julian holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (2014) and an M.Ed. in Counselor Education (2020) from South Carolina State University. As an Advocate Mentor, he continues the history of service begun by his mother Mattie Mitchell, who invested in her community as a counsellor for 44 years, but Julian is also passionate about giving back to others in creative ways. For example, he is Assistant Head Coach for the Burke High School Bulldogs and Director of the Charleston Ducks Football/Development Program. For Julian, working at RCI is a blessing. The personal parallels between the lives that he touches and his own childhood are significant and profound. Julian understands what it is like to grow up in a disadvantaged community, as many of his mentees do, but he also knows the impact of a loving, caring support group like his family.
From Julian’s perspective, he and the whole RCI Team provide this kind of “family” for our children.
